Ex-Digi Head Morten Lundal Appointed As Maxis CEO from Oct.1



Maxis has finally appoint Morten Lundal as the the company new CEO from Oct. 1. Morten is no stranger to Malaysia as he was a former boss at rival telecommunication company (telco) DiGi.com Bhd between 2004 and 2008 where at the time DiGi's mobile revenue, market share, earnings and share price increased significantly.

"He will be reporting to the chairman of the board and appointed as an executive director," Maxis said in a statement yesterday.

Morten Lundal is currently working as group chief commercial officer at British Telco Giant Vodafone Plc and the 48-year old Norwegian will work there until the month of October.
"We are confident that we have identified the right person,'' Maxis chairman Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda said in the statement.

Malaysia’s second biggest telecommunication company in terms of market value have been hunting for a new CEO since May this year after Sandip Das’successor Johan Dennelind was unable to continue as the leader due to unavoidable family commitment in Sweden.

"I am very happy to join Maxis and look forward to using my experience and energy to build on the inherent strengths of the company and its leadership of the telecommunications industry in Malaysia," said Lundal.
